So the Superbowl is two days away and our federal government continues to fiddle while Rome burns.
What's my point? Oil at all time highs, people losing their homes due to shady mortgage practices, the war in Iraq raging on and illegal immigrants streaming across the borders....and Senator Arlen Spector demands an investigation into why the National Football League destroyed the Patriots "Spygate" tapes.
Spector, who is an Eagles' fan and obviously still pissed that his team couldn't beat New England in the Superbowl from two years ago, needs to get a grip on himself. No where in the United States Constitution does it give the federal government the authority or power to investigate or inquire into a violation of league rules internal to a private industry. Spector is pushing for an illegal action and should be rebuked by his colleagues at a minimum. I know I certainly don't want my tax dollars being wasted in this manner.
This is typical of our governemnt today however. While the things I cited continue to be hardly addressed by our elected officials (I hedge to call them leaders), they are more concerned about a game.
This is reason number one why it's time to remove all long-term incumbants and bring in fresh blood. New ideas, a hopefully new way ahead.
Oh yeah...and try to stick to those things our Founding Fathers saw fit to give the federal government authority over.
